About Habersham Medical Center

About Habersham Medical Center

Northeast Georgia residents are fortunate to have an award-winning medical facility to serve their healthcare needs. Conveniently located in Demorest – just 80 miles north of Atlanta - Habersham Medical Center is a 53-bed not-for-profit acute care facility providing health care to more than 80,000 residents of Habersham and adjoining counties.

At the heart of Habersham Medical Center is the desire to offer access to a broad range of quality services along with the goal of not only meeting patient expectations, but also exceeding them every day.

Habersham Medical Center has met that goal by being awarded AVATAR International’s National Customer Service Award for Exceeding Patient Expectations. And Habersham Medical Center has won five Quality and Patient Safety Awards from the Georgia Hospital Association’s Partnership for Health and Accountability and is recognized as a Certified Primary Stroke Center by The Joint Commission.

As one of the largest employers in the area, Habersham Medical Center employs more than 600; has an annual operating budget of $42 million and has a more than $75 million local economic impact. More than 35 physicians serve on the Medical Staff representing many specialties including orthopedics, obstetrics, urology, ophthalmology, and sports medicine. These specialties enhance and complement physicians in the family practice, internal medicine and general surgery areas.

Like most hospitals, Habersham Medical Center is committed to ensuring easy access to 24/7 emergency care, critical care and surgical services, but Habersham Medical Center offers the community much more than inpatient care. As a medical center, Habersham Medical Center also offers a continuum of care from labor and delivery to home health and long-term care.

As the area prepares for inevitable growth, Habersham Medical Center underwent a $38.6 million expansion and renovation project; opening a new emergency department and a 24-bed outpatient surgery center in the fall of 2008.
