A buttock lift or a belt lipectomy is a surgical procedure that improves or removes excess or sagging skin from the thigh and buttocks area. This is a result of genetics, aging, gravity or weight loss. This surgical procedure helps make the buttocks appear less wrinkled, dimpled and saggy.
A buttock lift surgical procedure is performed on an outpatient basis under general anesthesia. The procedure can be done as a part of a whole body lift or a tummy tuck or on its own. Each patient’s body will determine how the lift is performed in terms of the amount of fat or skin to be removed.
An incision is made at the waist or slightly below it. After the incision is made, any excess skin or fat is detached from the soft tissue and then removed. Then the skin is tightened and closed in various layers. The patient is dressed with sterile dressing and a compression garment that will tightly hold the skin together. This helps to reduce swelling and the tight skin look they’re hoping to achieve.
