A former member of Indiana Surgical Specialists, Bryon J. Stephens, MD, FACS, joined Lutheran Medical Group in July 2013. Prior to joining ISS in 1995, Dr. Stephens was a partner with Northeast Indiana Surgeons in Fort Wayne.
Dr. Stephens, who is an Indiana native, earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from Wabash College in Crawfordsville, Ind., in 1983, graduating cum laude. He received a medical degree from the Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis in 1987. He completed a residency in general surgery at Saginaw Cooperative Hospitals Inc., in Saginaw, Mich., where he was the general surgery chief resident from 1991 to 1992.
Dr. Stephens, who is board-certified in surgery and is a certified Advanced Trauma Life Support instructor, is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and he is a diplomat of the National Board of Medical Examiners and the American Board of Surgery. He is a member of the Indiana Chapter of the American College of Surgeons, the American Medical Association, the Midwest Surgical Association, the Indiana State Medical Association and the Fort Wayne Medical Society.
