About John Bracey, M.D.

Dr. John Bracey is a board-certified fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) who specializes in hand, wrist, elbow and nerve conditions and injuries in both adult and pediatric patients.  He is an assistant professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) and sees patients at UAMS and Arkansas Children’s Hospital.  His clinical interests include trauma to the hand, wrist and elbow as well as complex peripheral nerve injuries including the brachial plexus.
As an experienced specialist in hand and upper extremity surgery, Dr. Bracey treats a wide range of conditions, including arthritis, carpal tunnel syndrome, Dupuytren’s disease, trigger finger, fractures, hand and wrist traumatic injuries, and more.
Dr. Bracey earned his medical degree from UAMS where he was awarded the Faculty Key given to the top graduating student. He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at UAMS where he earned the Residency Leadership and Teaching Award. He then furthered his training by completing a fellowship in Hand and Upper Extremity at OrthoCarolina in Charlotte, N.C., under the direction of Dr. Glen Gaston. A significant portion of his fellowship training concentrated on brachial plexus and complex peripheral nerve injuries. Additionally, he traveled to Florianopolis, Brazil, to study under Dr. Jayme Bertelli, an expert in brachial plexus injuries.
In addition to his passion for patient care, Bracey is an avid researcher with interests in hand trauma, wrist arthritis and peripheral nerve injuries. He’s been published in numerous scholarly journals and has presented his research at multiple national meetings.
