Vivian Wang, MD, is a bariatric surgeon at Intermountain Health’s Avenues General Surgery in Salt Lake City, Utah. She supports patients in Salt Lake City, North Salt Lake, West Valley City, Sugar House, and surrounding communities with clinical interests in bariatric/metabolic surgery, foregut surgery, robotic surgery, robotic minimally invasive surgery approaches, and more. She especially enjoys performing all types of bariatric surgeries. It is very rewarding for her to be able to cure medical conditions, improve overall health and wellness, and prolong someone's lifespan.

As a provider, Dr. Wang views bariatric (or metabolic) surgical weight loss as more than reaching a number on the scale—it’s a lifestyle transformation. She understands that while it improves physical health, it is also closely connected to mental and emotional well-being. Long-term success comes from a personalized approach using multiple tools, and Dr. Wang believes in creating tailored plans that involve surgical and/or non-surgical therapies to address each patient's individual needs and life situation.

Before patients come to meet with Dr. Wang, she wants them to know that bariatric/metabolic surgery is a constantly and quickly evolving field. Because of this, she understands that it is critical as a surgeon to continuously adapt and learn. She’s always looking for opportunities to improve her skills so that she can better care for her patients and stay up to date.

Outside the clinic, the Maryland native loves traveling with her husband, exploring new cuisines and food, reading, hiking, and vintage shopping.
