Blepharoplasty (one eyelid) in Virginia

Eyelid surgery or blepharoplasty is a surgical procedure that works to improve the appearance of the upper and lower eyelids.  This surgical procedure typically takes one to two hours and is performed under local anesthesia.  

When upper eyelid surgery begins, the surgeon marks the lines and creases to keep scars as inconspicuous as possible.  Excess fat or skin is repositioned or removed.  Eyelid surgery on the upper eyelids removes excess fatty deposits that can appear as puffiness on the skin. Also, loose or sagging skin generally creates folds and can take away from the natural contour of the eyelid. 

Lower eyelid surgery removes excess skin and wrinkles found on the lower lid. Bags under the eyes can be removed or treated during blepharoplasty. The incision for the lower eyelid surgery is made along the lash line and smile creases. From there, any excess skin, muscle or even fat is trimmed away. There are no visible scars with this particular surgical procedures.
