Calf Augmentation

Calf augmentation or implants is a form of plastic surgery that improves the contour of the leg. The surgical procedure is performed to correct birth defects or as a way to enhance the body’s overall look. Before the surgery, the legs are measured, so that the proper size implant is ordered. Implants may be placed on one leg or both depending on the patient’s preference.  Implants are made of soft silicone and are designed so that they replicate the shape of the main calf muscle. 

Calf augmentation is performed under general anesthesia. A small incision is made in the crease behind the knee in the fascia part of the gastroc muscle. During the surgical procedures, the implants are placed in pockets on the existing muscle. The pocket created by the surgeon is the perfect size to fit the implant in securely. After examining the look of the implant, the incision is stitched up.
