Check C. Kam, MD is a Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon and Hand Surgery Specialist. Dr. Kam earned his medical degree from the University of Virginia School of Medicine. He completed a five-year orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Miami, followed by a yearlong hand and upper extremity fellowship at Indiana Hand to Shoulder Center.
Dr. Kam has orthopedic training in the operative and non-operative management of all musculoskeletal disorders in both adults and children, including complex fractures, nerve compression, tendonitis, tumors, sports injuries and arthritis. He has advanced training for treatment of disorders of the upper extremity, including:
Tendon Transfer, Joint Reconstruction, Joint Fusion, Carpal Tunnel Release, Wrist and Finger Joint Replacement, Shoulder Arthroscopy
After an office visit, the patient will understand what his or her problem entails as well as the different solutions based on the best current medical evidence. Dr. Kam strives to provide individualized care tailored to the patient’s special needs.
Dr. Kam joined South Florida Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine as an orthopaedic surgeon and hand surgery specialist. He is a member in the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, American Society for Surgery of the Hand, and the American Association for Hand Surgery. Dr. Kam has presented nationally and internationally, and his research is published in several peer reviewed medical journals. His research on forearm instability and radial head arthroplasty has won research accolades in the past. He is an active member of the Health Volunteers Overseas and has performed dozens of hand surgeries in Nicaragua while training Nicaraguan doctors.
