Board-certified and fellowship-trained in sports medicine, Dr. Koontz graduated from the University of Kansas School of Medicine and then completed her residency through the Via Christi Family Medicine Residency Program in Wichita followed by a sports medicine fellowship at Via Christi. She also holds a master’s degree in public health from the University of Kansas. Dr. Koontz serves on the board for the Kansas Medical Society, the Kansas Healthcare Collaborative and the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine. She is also a member of the KSHSAA Sports Medicine Advisory Committee and the Kansas Sports Concussion Partnership. Also involved in many service activities, Dr. Koontz has worked with many regional sports teams and currently serves as the team physician for Bethel College, Hesston College and Newton High School.
