Dr. Lauren Poliakin is a native Californian. She is a proud team member of the surgical specialists within the Adventist Health Physicians Network. Alongside other skilled physicians, Dr. Lauren Poliakin is pleased to offer her patients state-of-the-art care at Adventist Health Simi Valley. Dr. Lauren Poliakin is board certified in general surgery with fellowship training in minimally invasive and bariatric surgery, and board certified in obesity medicine. During her training, she developed a particular interest in obesity, surgical and medical weight management, laparoscopy and robotic surgery.
Dr. Poliakin began her studies at Loyola Marymount University, where she earned a degree in biology. She continued her education at St. George University School of Medicine. Her general surgery residency took her to The Brooklyn Hospital Center-Mount Sinai in Brooklyn, NY. After her residency, she participated in a minimally invasive and bariatric surgery fellowship at Atrium Health's Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, NC. Upon completion of her fellowship, she began specializing in minimally invasive and bariatric surgery.
Weight management is the center of Dr. Poliakin’s focus. She provides medical management and specializes in multiple bariatric procedures, including Roux-En-Y gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy and revisional bariatric surgery. She is also adept at dealing with other medical conditions such as hiatal hernia, ventral and incisional hernia, inguinal hernia, gallbladder disease, appendicitis and bowel obstruction.
Valuing the Adventist Health mission, Dr. Poliakin and her staff strive to approach each patient with care and compassion. Their goal is to treat obesity and to improve the individual’s quality of life through medical weight management and bariatric surgery.
