Procedure Details
This includes a physical therapy session. The services and session time will be determined by a therapist for specific patient needs. A physical therapy session may include electrical stimulation, application of a modality, physical performance test, prosthetics training, assistive technology assessment, therapeutic activities (massage, exercise to develop strength, gait training, functional performance, neuromuscular reeducation), wheelchair management or manual therapy. Therapeutic and functional exercises are done with the patient during the session and a home exercise program is developed for home, office or on the road.

Mercy Health provides two types of rehabilitation care and physical therapy services: inpatient and outpatient. Inpatient rehabilitation is hospital-based, 24-hour individualized care designed to improve independent function. Outpatient services occur after you return home from the hospital or after suffering an injury. Outpatient services are offered in a variety of locations, including hospital departments and specialists’ offices.
Mercy Health rehabilitation and physical therapy professionals have the experience and expertise to provide you with the highest level of care. Our care teams include physical medicine doctors, orthopedic doctors, sports medicine doctors, rehabilitation nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, recreational therapists, athletic trainers, social service and case management experts and more.
