Recruited to the Grand Strand in 2000, Dr. Michael N. Bohan has been caring for patients in Georgetown and Horry Counties for over two decades. Dr. Bohan specializes in total joint surgery. His particular focus is on hip and knee replacement as well as complex revision surgeries. Staying abreast of state-of-the-art technology in orthopedics, Dr. Bohan performs robotic-assisted knee and hip replacements. For patients who qualify, Dr. Bohan has a special interest in performing total hip and knee surgeries in an outpatient setting, where patients are able to go home the same day of their surgeries.

Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Dr. Bohan grew up in Western New York where he spent his formative years outdoors skiing, hunting, fishing, swimming, and playing tennis. Ready for some warmer weather, Dr. Bohan headed south after graduation. He attended Davidson College where he graduated with a BS in Biology. He went on to attend Wake Forest School of Medicine where he also completed his orthopedic surgery residency. Dr. Bohan has advanced specialty training in anterior hip replacement. He has also completed specialty training in robotic-assisted knee and hip replacement.

Dr. Bohan is the Director of Outpatient Total Joint Replacement at Carolina Coast Surgery Center. He is also a founding partner of Carolina Orthopaedics, one of the core constituent groups of OrthoSC.

Dr. Bohan resides in Pawleys Island with his wife, Kristin, and their two children, Gabrielle and Nolan. He enjoys tennis, pickleball, golf, skiing, hunting, and fishing. He spends much of his time as a "tennis dad" traveling throughout the southwest watching his son play in USTA tennis tournaments and throughout the northeast watching his daughter play division one tennis for Colgate University.
