About Mike Tummers, MD
Dr. Tummers is experienced in a wide range of general surgery procedures and techniques. He specializes in minimally invasive surgery for hernia, reflux, thyroid, gallbladder and bowel diseases. He has a special interest in advanced laparoscopy for ventral and inguinal hernia repair. Dr. Tummers performs surgery at Newport Medical Center, Newport TN.
In addition to private practice experience, Dr. Tummers served as a general surgeon with the U.S. Navy. He earned his medical degree from Quillin College of Medicine, East Tennessee State University, Johnson City, TN. Dr. Tummers completed an internship and residency as well as fellowship training in vascular research at University of Tennessee Medical Center, Knoxville, TN. He is board certified in general surgery.
