Dr. Paul Spezia grew up in south St. Louis on The Hill. He joined Advanced Bone & Joint in 1995 and has enjoyed being a resident of St. Charles since that time, along with his wife and four children. He was a staff orthopedic surgeon at Darnell Army Medical Center and an associate clinical professor at Texas A&M Medical School while completing his military obligation.
Prior to orthopedic residency, he was a flight surgeon for the United States Army.
Dr. Spezia completed his Orthopedic Surgery Residency at Fitzsimons Army Medical Center in Aurora Colorado and received his medical degree from the University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kansas City, MO. He has been board-certified by the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery and a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons.
He served as Chief of Surgery at Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital and is currently the
Medical Director of NovaMed Surgery Center of St. Peters, a role he has held for the past 15 years.
Dr. Spezia specializes in the surgical and non-surgical care of hands, shoulders and knees with 25 years of experience. He is also a certified provider of the non-operative injection treatment of Dupuytren’s contracture with Xiaflex injections.
Due to his diverse experience of primary care and military and orthopedic specialty training, Dr. Spezia excels in independent medical exams (IMEs) and Workers’ Compensation cases.
