Procedure Details
This includes a laparoscopic or open repair for inguinal hernia. (Please note this does not include robotic hernia repair.) An inguinal or groin hernia is when an organ or tissue pushes through an abnormal opening in the abdominal wall in the groin region. This includes the insertion of mesh, if needed, to fix the hernia, which is most often the case. This may include one postoperative follow-up visit (as needed), which could be remote or in person.

- Facility feeoperating and recovery room services & supplies for outpatient stay (less than 24 hours) at Intermountain Medical Center
- Physician feetreatment and procedure-related postoperative follow-up visit(s) within 90 days of surgery for all hernia repair types except abdominal hernias. Abdominal hernia repairs do not have a covered postoperative period. Does NOT include the initial evaluation to determine the need of the procedure.
- Anesthesiologist feeregional or general anesthesia for the entire duration of the procedure
- Pathology feeDOES NOT INCLUDE A PATHOLOGY FEE. The patient may receive a bill for this portion.

About The Provider
Dr. Robert E. Glasgow is the Senior Medical Director for Surgical Operations at Intermountain Health and Adjunct Professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of Utah. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science from Stanford University and Doctor of Medicine from the University of California, San Francisco, Dr. Glasgow completed a General Surgery Residency and Health Services Research Fellowship in Gastrointestinal Surgery. He then did a Fellowship in Advanced Gastrointestinal-Foregut Clinical Surgery at the Oregon Clinic.
Dr. Robert E. Glasgow is the Senior Medical Director for Surgical Operations at Intermountain Health and Adjunct Professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of Utah. Dr. Glasgow’s clinical focus is in the area of gastrointestinal surgery with a special emphasis in the management of gastroesophageal and upper gastrointestinal disorders. He specializes in the minimally invasive treatment of benign and malignant disorders of the esophagus and stomach to include reflux disease, hiatal hernias, esophageal motility disorders, peptic ulcer disease, revisional gastric and esophageal surgery, and surgery for cancer of the esophagus and stomach.
Dr. Glasgow’s administrative and research interests are in the area of clinical operations and optimization of quality and value in surgical care.
