Dr. William Monahan, DO, is an Orthopedic Surgeon at South Florida Orthopedics & Sports Medicine. Dr. Monahan’s extensive education and training have equipped him with a diverse skill set, allowing him to address a wide range of orthopedic conditions with expertise and precision.
Dr. Monahan earned his Doctor of Osteopathy from the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Bradenton, FL. Prior to his medical training, he completed a Master of Science in Medical Sciences at the University of South Florida in Tampa, where he also earned his Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science. His academic journey laid a strong foundation for his surgical career, fostering a deep understanding of both clinical and research aspects of medicine.
Following medical school, Dr. Monahan pursued his Orthopaedic Surgery internship and residency at Franciscan Health Olympia Fields, Illinois. Dr. Monahan further refined his surgical expertise with an Orthopedic Surgery Fellowship at Hennepin County Medical Center, specializing in traumaplasty. This advanced fellowship allowed him to work with complex trauma cases, enhancing his ability to manage severe injuries and reconstructive needs.
Throughout his career, Dr. Monahan has been committed to staying at the forefront of orthopedic care, continuously refining his techniques to provide the best outcomes for his patients. He approaches each case with a personalized touch, ensuring that every patient receives tailored care that addresses their unique needs.
Outside of his professional life, Dr. Monahan enjoys spending time outdoors, embracing hobbies such as fishing, golfing, kayaking, camping, and cooking.
