During a new patient office visit, a doctor will discuss the patient’s past medical history and current medical conditions and/or ailments. Typically, the length of a visit depends on the initial reason for the visit. For single simple problems such as a urinary tract infection, a rash or another common problem, a simple and fast visit may occur. For something more routine such as a sinus or respiratory problem, a visit may require extra tests that are ordered. It’s important to discuss everything occurring so that a new doctor can get more familiar with your overall health. Patients should bring a list of past diagnoses and a list of medications they’re taking or have taken recently. Typically, a new patient office visit will take a great deal of time as that doctor will want to review everything themselves whether or not it is already in a patient’s chart.
