Procedure Details
This is a vaginal delivery for an uncomplicated pregnancy (i.e. the mother did not exhibit any of these complications during pregnancy cardiac problems, diabetes, pre-term labor, hypertension, toxemia, etc). This fee does not include prenatal (antepartum, prior to delivery) or postpartum(after delivery) visits in physician's office or circumcision. Your purchase includes the following services:
- Physician feeVaginal delivery with or without cervical dilation, episiotomy and/or forceps, and your postpartum visits during your stay in the hospital.
- Facility fee1-3 days stay in the hospital for the mother and ONE well newborn. Length of stay in the hospital will be the decision of your physician based on your medical needs. If postpartum complications occur, the mother or the newborn may be required to stay longer in the hospital and there will be an additional charge for each day.
- Anesthesia feeThis fee is for either local anesthesia, an epidural, or a spinal block. It also includes any repeat subarachnoid needle placement and drug injection and/or any necessary replacement of an epidural catheter during labor. If you choose to not undergo anesthesia, you will be refunded the anesthesia fee.
- Pediatrician feeThis DOES NOT INCLUDE the exam performed by a pediatrician. You will receive a bill for this portion.
- Hospitalist feeservices provided by a hospitalist, a doctor who is responsible for coordinating medical care for hospitalized patients if your physician becomes unavailable
- Tendo Marketplace feeCovers the cost of contracting upfront rates with all involved medical providers, processing payment, and distributing funds, minimizing administrative overhead and allowing for a lower total price

Sarah Turner, MD, joined Lutheran Health Physicians in April 2017. She previously served as an attending physician and fellow at the University of New Mexico hospital in Albuquerque where she completed a fellowship in maternal, child and reproductive health.
Dr. Turner earned her medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada, West Indies, in 2011. After completing a family medicine residency in Fort Wayne, she traveled to Albuquerque for her fellowship. Upon completion of her fellowship, she returned with her family to Fort Wayne to continue her career as a family medicine physician.
Dr. Turner’s advanced training allows her to provide services in high-risk and surgical obstetrics, substance abuse in pregnancy, high-risk neonatal care and women’s health. As an internationally board-certified lactation consultant, she has a special interest in breastfeeding. She regularly performs a range of in-office gynecologic procedures and has surgical privileges to perform cesarean sections and tubal ligations. As a primary care physician, Dr. Turner provides multiple types of health services to all ages including preventive care, such as cancer screenings and diet/weight loss counseling; chronic care for conditions like diabetes, hypertension and asthma; and care for symptoms like cough/cold, stomach pain or high fever.
Dr. Turner is board certified in family medicine and is a member of the American Association of Family Physicians. A native Canadian, she is the mother of two boys who keep her busy when she’s not working.
